so last february 8th, ript apparel printed this design: [link]

it did reasonably well, so i submitted a new one. its the second part to the image of the first shirt. taken together, the shirts tell a sequence or story. i thought fans might find that novel. well, lo and behold, i find out that ript apparel will print this design [link] on march 27! woo-hoo!  

man, this t-shirt thing is definitely heating up! i can see myself coming up with one design a month! i'm not good with original work, but pop culture stuff is second nature to me. i wonder what subjects i should be tackling?

its that time of the year when all good boys and girls trek to scenic san diego for comic-con international! i'll be a-goin' again this year to pay homage to all things pop culture and worship a the altar of art. i'm goin' to bring my portfolio and some skecthbooks, even though i'm hip deep in work. why? well, networking, for one. is good businiess to put yourself out there, and i am so bad a it. maybe i can line up my next gig? i doubt it, but hope springs eternal.

well the good times must come to an end, even for me. in a few weeks i start on my new long term project. i'll still try to get some commissions on the side and i'll try to keep up with my sketches, though. its getting harder and harder for me to just pick up a pencil and draw without a concrete idea in mind... i need to work on that.

i just did a tutorial on "how to create basic pin-ups" for the fine folks over at comictutorials.com ([link]. it may not be the best way or the most efficient, but it works for me. i hope somebody finds it helpful. i wish there was a site like this back when i was still learning how to frikkin' draw.

so i'm still workin on supplemental materials for COLT NOBLE. i try to find time for commissions and just drawing for fun, but its difficult. i'm seriously considering just stopping for a little bit (after finishing the book) if only si i can buckle down and work on my drawing style, maybe try to learn a little watercoloring or practice with my cintiq.

san diego was awesome. super tired, but i think i've sufficiently recovered. i went to all the panels i wanted to go to, except for iron-man 2. ah well, i suppose its good i saved myself from spoilers.

first and foremost, i did and 11 page story for tim seeley's hack/slash #23. it came out last week and i just posted the pencils in the gallery. i'm very proud of it. well, "proud" in a sense that i didn't screw up too badly. this is significant because while i've had comics published before, i believe this is the first that got national (heck, international) distribution. a personal landmark, important only to myself... probably.

another reason to be happy, i've seen final proofs of my upcoming graphic novel. the files are on their way to the printers and will be ready to debut at comic-con (assuming all goes well).
